Josef Simon studied Aeronautical Engineering in Stuttgart and at Cranfield University, UK. After obtaining his degree he was involved in the development and application of a novel repair method for fibre-reinforced composite structures. He worked at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Stuttgart and investigated the behaviour of aircraft structures under high velocity impact. Experimental data were taken to obtain improved material properties for finite element simulations.
Afterwards he started the training and education to become a patent attorney in a patent law firm in Nuremberg, Germany, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the German Federal Patent Court. In 2003 he was admitted as German Patent Attorney. He is qualified to represent clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG) and before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in patent nullity appeal procedures. As a European Patent Attorney he represents clients in application proceedings and opposition proceedings before the Euopean Patent Office (EPO). In addition he is admitted at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Josef Simon is specialized in inventions in the field of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electronics, automotive engineering and construction engineering.
